WHAT is Babywearing Twin Cities?
Babywearing Twin Cities is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to build the bond between babies and caregivers through baby carrier education and support; to provide a community education service and distribute baby carriers to individuals and other organizations for their use; and to celebrate babywearing among caregivers through online and in-person gatherings.
We have regular meetings all over the Twin Cities of Minnesota that are free and open to the public. Our group’s lending library provides carriers to try on at meetings, and members can check out one or two carriers for up to a month at a time!
WHO is Babywearing Twin Cities?
What makes our organization run? Volunteers. We count on people who are passionate about babywearing to help us achieve our mission.
You don’t have to know everything about baby carriers, or know all the fancy finishes or aspire to be a babywearing educator to help with Babywearing Twin Cities. All you need is a passion for people wearing babies and the time to volunteer at one meeting per month. We are always looking for friendly faces to help at meetings.
HOW do I volunteer with Babywearing Twin Cities?
There are many ways you can help in-person as well as online. Time commitments vary depending on what time you have available and it doesn’t have to be consistent from month to month, season to season (for some it varies a lot between school year versus summer!).
Examples of tasks and projects done by volunteers:
- attend meetings as an administrator and/or educator
- greet meeting attendees
- check-in/out carriers at a meeting
- snuggle babies, wrangle toddlers, take kids to the bathroom at meetings
- track down late carriers
- organize fundraising opportunities
- set-up and/or pack-up carrier library at meetings
- distribute flyers on community boards
- find and collect carrier donations
- research potential meeting spaces
- create/proofread promotional materials
- attend outreach events
- tag library carriers, wash library carriers
- got ideas? tell us!
If any of the above has your interest, we would love to talk more! Let us know what you are interested in helping out with. Fill out this short Volunteer Interest Form, and we will be in touch with you!
